Forest Hills, New York, is one of the most iconic neighborhoods in New York. It’s where the Super Bowl was held for many years, the movie Fame was filmed, and where many celebrities reside. Forest Hills is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the city and is known for its tree-lined streets, expansive parks, and incredible architecture.
The neighborhood is famous for its many homes built in the style known as Forest Hills Bungalow or FHB. These homes are characterized by their rounded corners, steeply pitched roofs, and large windows. Architects like George Oliver and Henry Chapman, who designed homes in Forest Hills, popularized the style of architecture in the community.
The community is a Queens suburb in the northeast corner of the borough, bound by Jackie Robinson Parkway and Highway 495. It is also near Willow and Meadow Lake and surrounded by other upscale communities like Rego Park, Kew Gardens, and Corona. It is a residential community with a wide array of housing, from large condominium buildings to single-family homes.
Forest Hills is a small, quiet town with a variety of small shops and restaurants and an intimate, small-town feel. Manor Oktoberfest is a lively and beautiful restaurant serving German cuisine and bottled and tap beer. Forest Hills Stadium is a historic outdoor venue for music that has been a community staple for nearly 100 years. The stadium can hold 13,000 people and was updated to host sell-out performers like Dolly Parton, Ed Sheeran, and more. MacDonald Park is a beautiful open grass space where locals can enjoy mature trees and walk to restaurants and shops.
